Senior Nutrition Scientist
We are looking for a Senior Nutrition Scientist to join our Nutrition Intelligence Team.

The British Nutrition Foundation exists to promote health and wellbeing and prevent diet-related ill health through evidence-based nutrition science.
It provides a bridge between nutrition science, government, industry, education and people. Its team of nutrition scientists and education professionals promotes access to the latest evidence-based and trusted nutrition science, so that people have the knowledge, skills and confidence to make positive food, diet and lifestyle choices, and to create a healthier, more sustainable food environment for all.
Key to our success are professional employees who are passionate about growing the impact of the British Nutrition Foundation by producing evidence-based, up-to-date synthesis of nutrition research; championing the importance of nutrition science and food sustainability to thought leaders, decision makers, government and other stakeholders; and making practical recommendations as to how evidence-based nutrition research can be applied.
Role
The purpose of this role is to help position the British Nutrition Foundation as a leading voice in nutrition science with academics, research funders and key stakeholders; and to support diversification of income by leading on projects with income from government, academia and related sectors.
Whilst this position is initially for a Senior Nutrition Scientist, we are looking for a candidate with the potential to step up to managerial level within 24 months. This role reports to our Science Director.
As part of the team, you will have a varied role which will include:
- Leading on and delivering scientific projects with universities, charities and other organisations, to agreed deadlines and standards of quality. Mentor less experienced staff as requested.
- Working within the Nutrition Intelligence Team to deliver a programme of appropriate scientific thought pieces, resources, and training to grow our scientific credibility and reputation as a leading source of nutrition information in the UK and internationally.
- Representing the Foundation at external meetings, as a subject matter expert and present the work of the Foundation and/or provide overviews of nutrition topics at conferences and events, including at appropriate scientific conferences, industry or trade association events.
- Working with Communications team to engage with the media by providing comment, quotes or interviews as required and act as a spokesperson for the Foundation when needed.
- Creating timely and accurate scientific content for training resources and deliver training sessions/webinars as required.
- Seeking opportunities to diversity our income by working with the Science Director and Nutrition Science Manager to write proposals and support income generation.
Skills & Experience Required
- Post graduate Degree or equivalent, ideally with a PhD in nutrition or dietetics.
- Registered Nutritionist or Dietician.
- Passion for evidence-based science and the application of high-quality research to find real-world solutions.
- Understanding of research methodologies and statistical analyses commonly used in nutrition science.
- Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
- Strong project design and management skills, ideally used to working with collaboration tools such as Trello, Monday, or Microsoft Project etc, or a willingness to learn and apply such tools.
- Track record of presenting at scientific conferences and of a strong academic network in nutrition science.
- Excellent written, interpersonal and communication skills including an ability to write for different audiences.
- Excellent relationship-building skills, with strong commitment to partnership working.
